The Grange, St Andrews

Working in partnership with the Kingdom Group, the University of St Andrews and Campion Homes for the first time, the new ‘university village’ is a pioneering project offering 61 much-needed homes for postgraduate students and university staff, helping to reduce accommodation pressures in St Andrews. 

The Grange offers furnished, affordable housing with a 'University village' feel to enhance the lives of postgraduate students, academics and their families. All homes have been built to high standards of sustainability, are highly energy efficient, and fitted with solar panels. Some units were fitted with apparatus to allow HMO occupancies.

They range in size from 2 - 4 bedrooms and feature a mix of semi-detached and two-storey houses plus two-storey blocks of cottage flats.

The principles of “Designing Streets” are incorporated into the design/layout of the site, including shared surfaces and a road layout designed to slow traffic down. The homes adopt a modern contemporary design using a simple range of finishing materials, including concrete roof tiles, a mix of rendered walls with weatherboard panels and uPVC windows and doors.
