The Best Places to Eat in Fife

Fife is famous for the delicious food it has on offer. A coastal region surrounded by rolling hills and luscious countryside, Fife is a haven for delicious local produce.

So, where are the best places to eat in Fife? This is a surprisingly difficult question to answer, as there are just so many fantastic options available.

We have just about managed to narrow it down to our favourites – here is what made our team’s cut as the best places to eat in Fife.

The East Pier Smokehouse, St Monans

Located in St Monans on the East Neuk of Fife, The East Pier Smokehouse offers a delightful range of fresh sea food. An ever-changing menu, lobsters, langoustine and cod tacos often make appearances, as well as a variety of premium smoked produce. Make sure to plan your visit in advance – opening times vary, and no bookings are taken.

Base, Leven

A hip and laid-back restaurant in Leven, serving up delicious comfort food like pizzas, burgers and sticky toffee pudding. Great cocktails are also available. Complete with a quirky interior, this is a lovely place to kick back and relax.

A cosy corner in the centre of St Andrews, Forgan’s has a delightful range of food and drink on offer. Serving posh versions of pub classics, like confit of duck, shepherd’s pie and wild mushroom and caramelised shallot wellington, this is the perfect weekend hideout for weary workers.

The Seafood Restaurant

Another corker from St Andrews, as the name suggests, this restaurant with a view is all about the seafood. Serving the best catches of the day, choose from a variety of Scottish fish and shellfish from along the coast.

Anstruther Fish Bar

Famous for its incredible fish and chips, Anstruther Fish Bar has been voted the UK’s Fish and Chip shop of the year several times over. Combining local catches with light batter and crispy chips, it’s easy to see why people travel far and wide to get their hands on the fish bar’s wares.

Crail Food Festival

Although it only happens once a year, Crail Food Festival is well worth the wait. A gem of the Fife food scene, the very best of Fife food and drink is available to try. We recommend the Arbroath smokie grilled cheeses and crispy battered langoustine.

Ostlers Close

A hidden gem nestled in the town centre of Cupar, this up-market restaurant is perfect for special occasions. The AA guide describes the dishes as “packed with flavour, never over worked, with the ingredients given room to shine.” The changing seasonal menu is guaranteed to please guests.
